Here at The Naked Photographer we are often asked lots of questions about our boudoir photography. We try to answer these questions as truthfully as possible, telling you exactly what you need to know, rather than what we want to tell you! There follows some of the questions that come up regularly, however, if there is a question that you have and you don't see the answer here that you require, please don't hesitate to contact us and we will do our utmost to answer it for you.
Q: Why The Naked Photographer?
The Naked Photographer is not a literal statement, it's a creative one, the photographer is never naked, and nor for that fact does the client ever have to be naked, 'boudoir photography' is generally referred to as implied nude, what you wear and how comfortable you feel is your choice.
Q: Do I have to come to a studio?
No, we don't work from a studio. We prefer to come to you as we find you are more comfortable within your own surroundings. We will bring with us professional portable studio equipment with a variety of different backgrounds and boudoir props.
Q: Can I have someone with me during the shoot?
Yes. We ask that you have your partner or a friend or close family member with you at all times. This will help you to feel relaxed and often turns the shoot into a 'bit of fun'.
Q: What do I need for the shoot?
Just make sure you have some nice matching underwear, we will bring the rest with us. We bring a variety of 'props' to help with the setting, although we do ask that you have some nice heeled shoes available, and that if you play a musical instrument etc you have that close to hand too so that we may incorporate it into your images to 'personalise' them.
Q: I don't live locally; can I still book a shoot?
Whilst we are based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, we travel across the UK for our boudoir photography. We do however charge reasonable traveling expenses on distances over 50 miles from us. Please ask us for further details.
Q: Do you have a female photographer?
The Naked Photographer is a team of male and female, all the photography and technical roles are taken care of by Mark, whilst the customer care, positioning and pose advice are lead by Sam. We have only had good feedback from our clients about the way we work, so in the best traditions, we see no point in fixing something that is quite clearly not broken. There are many 'female only' photographers who would have you believe that the only important part of boudoir photography is that the photographer is female, we take a wider view and believe that the quality of your product should be the prime concern.
Q: How will I know what positions and poses to use?
Sam was a successful fashion model for many years and therefore knows all about positioning. She will advise you on the poses to show off your best features and hide those that you are not so sure about. You would be amazed how the placing of your leg can make you look a size smaller, or lifting your chin slightly can make you appear five years younger. We want you to be happy with your images and so we put a lot of effort into your positioning.
Q: Will you be able to see my cellulite/baby belly/double chin?
If we can't hide it with positioning, then we will hide it during the editing. We try to get the shot as perfect as we can so that the editing and enhancement is kept to a minimum. We much prefer the shots to be as natural as possible.
Q: I read somewhere about not wearing perfume, why?
The Naked photographer has no such rules, whilst it is true that lots of very strong perfume in a small room can cause problems, it is something we feel you should wear if you would normally.
Q: How long will it take for my prints/album to be ready?
We like to allow a period of six weeks from the date of your shoot. We will of course, move heaven and earth to get them to you even quicker than this, but we like to be erring on the side of caution. Your images will be available to view online about a week after your shoot, and then you can choose your favourites. We will then have your images printed and order your chosen album. This will take up to 28 days. We will keep you informed at all stages so that you know exactly what is happening with your order and when you can expect to receive it.
Q: I want to buy a shoot as a gift for my partner/friend, how do I do this?
We sell gift vouchers so you can give a 'shoot' as a present for a loved one. You just purchase the voucher, and then your loved one can ring and book a date when it is convenient. Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months after the date of purchase.
Q: How can I pay?
You can pay your deposit by cheque or by credit/debit card securely via Google checkout. Then your balance is payable on the day of your shoot by cheque or cash. You may also be the recipient of one of our gift vouchers, in which case this will cover the cost of your shoot and album/print box.
Q: Do you take payment in installments?
No. We believe that our prices are reasonable enough to not warrant this. We take a 50% non refundable deposit at the time of booking. Then your balance (50%) is payable on the shoot date.
Q: What if I pay for a shoot with 11 images then want 20 when I see the pictures?
This is not a problem, in fact it is quite common, we can upgrade your album at any time, and we will invoice you for the difference in price. There is also an option to purchase framed prints; canvases etc. as extras after your shoot. The Naked Photographer does not actively promote additional products for sale or album upgrades, we prefer our clients to make their own choices, not go with the ideas of pushy sales people.
Q: My partner and I would like some photographs taken together in this style, can you do this?
Yes we can. We don't advertise this on our site as we currently have no images available to use for promoting this service, but it is something we offer. To couples who would like to have some more 'personal' pictures.
Q: Can I have a CD/DVD of my boudoir images to print myself?
We used to refuse requests for 'digital' images as we care a great deal about the quality of our printed products, however, we have developed a number of new packages to cover this demographic. We still insist that all 'digital' packages are supplied with some of our own printed products simply to demonstrate that our products exceed the quality of consumer based products.
Q: How secure are my pictures? / Who will see my pictures?
The Naked Photographer takes image security very seriously, all aspects of our business are handled in house from image acquisition through detailed editing, secure storage and password protected online client areas, we do not use outside companies to control our web site, where prying eyes could view secure pages.
We do however use one of the finest professional photographic labs in the country for our prints, fortunately they are nearby and as such our security policy for printing can be as tightly controlled as the rest of our processes, by special arrangement with our lab we hand deliver all files and oversee the printing process with a selected staff member and collect the images the moment they are printed.
Q: Do you print images 'in house'?
In a word, no, all our printing is handled by our professional photographic lab. This ensures that the quality of the prints you receive is the highest that it can possibly be, we could offer 'inkjet' prints, but despite excellent results and claims to 'wow' an inkjet print will only ever be an inkjet print with limited resistance to the 'real world', an alternative would be dye-sublimation prints, but again the quality of print cannot compete with a true professional lab with many years of experience.
Q: Will you use my images after the shoot?
The Naked photographer does not use any kind of professional model; all of our gallery images are clients who have kindly agreed to have their images on display. We don't use any images without the clients consent. If you agree to us using some of your images then we would ask you to sign a disclaimer stating this, although we would consult on the images used and no images are displayed until the album is delivered or ‘given’.
